Job summary

A leading aircraft maintenance firm in the UK is seeking a Specialist HR Business Partner to provide strategic and operational support to various customer groups. The ideal candidate will have over 5 years of HR/Labor Relations experience, preferably in unionized environments, as well as a strong understanding of labor laws and excellent communication skills. The role involves advising managers, conducting HR interventions, and supporting organizational transformations. The position offers a temporary contract in a dynamic environment.

Qualifications

  • 5 years HR / Labor Relations experience in a unionized or non-unionized environment.
  • Experience in a manufacturing / aircraft maintenance environment is an asset.
  • In-depth knowledge of Canada’s Labor Code, Human Rights Act, and Employment Equity Act.

Essential Functions

About your next Challenge as a Specialist HR Business Partner:

Working from Mirabel and reporting directly to the Director HR Business Partner the Specialist HR Business Partner is responsible for providing strategic and operational support to the managers and employees of its various customer groups. You will function as a trusted advisor with all aspects of Human Resources including Labor and Employee Relations, Talent Acquisition, Training and focus on Law and Benefits.

What you will do
  • Provide advice and coaching to executives and managers in the resolution of their human resources management issues as well as in the development of their management skills;
  • Conduct HR interventions adapted to business needs and the human aspects of operational issues;
  • Provide advice and expertise on working conditions and labor relations;
  • Work in close collaboration with your expert colleagues in the HR department to provide support to your customer in staffing, compensation, training and Benefits;
  • Act as a change agent to support managers in the various organizational transformations they are implementing;
  • Implement various initiatives to improve HR measures, practices and policies;
  • Interpret and administer collective bargaining agreement;
  • Manage grievance procedures in a timely and effective manner to ensure speedy resolution of employee problems or concerns;
  • Participate in the Labor Relations Committee.
Qualifications
  • University Degree (Industrial Relations or another related program);
  • CHRP Designation an asset;
  • 5 years HR / Labor Relations experience in a unionized or non-unionized environment;
  • Experience in a manufacturing / aircraft maintenance environment is an asset;
  • In depth knowledge of the Canada’s Labor Code, Human Rights Act and Employment Equity Act;
  • Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines in a face‑paced environment;
  • Persuasive communication, interpersonal and coaching skills;
  • Proven problem identification and problem‑solving skills;
  • Excellent organizational and record keeping skills;
  • Strong Computer skills (Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Excel);
  • Knowledge of HR Systems (PeopleSoft, SAP, SuccessFactors) is an asset;
  • Bilingual in French and English an asset.
Eligibility Criteria
  • Must be eligible for registration with the Controlled Goods Program;
  • Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a Government of Canada Reliability status and Secret Level 2 / NATO Secret security clearance;
  • Must be eligible to meet the requirements for U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
