Job summary

AWD online is seeking a Learning Support Assistant / Teaching Assistant to support a child with additional needs in a rewarding one-to-one school role in Hedge End, Southampton. You will work 30 hours per week, term time only (38 weeks), Monday to Friday, 8.50am – 3.20pm, providing individual support and helping the pupil access learning, in collaboration with teachers and the SENDCO.

Qualifications

• Child-centred approach for supporting pupils with SEND.
• Experience supporting children with social or communication difficulties on an individual basis.
• Ability to use non-verbal communication strategies and support pupils in a specialised provision.
• Calm, firm and adaptable approach with ability to motivate and engage pupils.

Responsibilities

• Provide individual and group support to pupils, helping complete activities.
• Implement lesson plans and monitor progress against learning programmes.
• Support behaviour and SEND needs in collaboration with teachers and provision lead.
• Apply curriculum policies and day-to-day school procedures including safeguarding.
