Job summary

AWD online is seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant / Learning Support Assistant in Hedge End, near Southampton. You will support students with a range of additional needs, and work with teachers to foster an inclusive learning environment. Role is full-time, permanent, 30.01 hours per week during term time.

The salary is £25,614 per annum FTE with benefits, and the school emphasizes safeguarding and ongoing development opportunities. Closing date: 28 September 2026.

Qualifications

• Enthusiastic and calm approach with a genuine interest in working with students who have additional needs (ES)
• Excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills
• Good standard of numeracy and literacy
• Ability to work flexibly, independently and collaboratively with staff
• Commitment to safeguarding, confidentiality and inclusive learning environment

Responsibilities

• Support students individually, in small groups and in class by clarifying instructions and preparing materials
• Adapt support to students’ individual needs and promote independence
• Deliver early morning catch-up sessions for individual students and small groups
• Maintain progress records and provide feedback to teachers
• Promote self-esteem, inclusion and appropriate behaviour
• Work with teachers and other professionals and liaise with parents when appropriate
• Follow safeguarding, confidentiality and health and safety procedures
