Job summary

Buckinghamshire Council is looking for a Special Needs Learning Support Assistant to support children with high special educational needs. The role is offered on a part-time or full-time basis, term time only, working under teaching staff in and around the classroom.

You will supervise pupils, assist with learning activities and behaviour plans, support the curriculum, and help maintain a safe, inclusive learning environment. Strong literacy and numeracy, patience and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

  • Experience of working with relevant age groups within a learning environment.
  • Good communication, literacy and numeracy skills.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and support pupils, ensuring safety and access to learning activities.
  • Assist with development and implementation of Individual Education/Behaviour Plans and Personal Care programmes.
  • Establish constructive relationships with pupils to support learning and wellbeing.
  • Promote inclusion and encourage pupil participation in activities led by the teacher.
  • Support teachers with planning, delivering and evaluating learning activities.
  • Provide feedback on pupil progress under the guidance of the teacher.
