The role offers the opportunity to influence whole-school practice, work alongside experienced colleagues and play a significant part in shaping the future of SEND provision.

Benefits of the Role

  • Rewarding Impact: Make a meaningful difference to the lives of young people by helping them overcome barriers to learning, build confidence and achieve their individual aspirations.
  • Positive Working Culture: Be part of a professional community that values teamwork, staff expertise, continuous improvement and a shared commitment to student success.
The Role and Its Responsibilities

The SENCo will play a central role in ensuring that students with special educational needs and disabilities receive appropriate, high-quality provision that enables them to thrive academically, socially and personally.

Working closely with senior leaders, teachers, support staff, parents and external professionals, the post holder will oversee the effective coordination of SEND provision and promote a culture in which inclusive teaching is embedded throughout the school.

The main areas of responsibility will include:
  • Leading and Developing SEND Provision: Oversee the strategic direction and day-to-day coordination of SEND, ensuring that provision meets statutory requirements and reflects the individual needs of students. Contribute to the development and implementation of effective SEND improvement plans.
