Job summary

Education Authority (Northern Ireland) is seeking a Classroom Assistant – Special Educational Needs to support pupils with SEN under the guidance of the class teacher. This role includes assisting with curriculum access, personal care, and transport as needed.

You will implement education and care plans, promote independence, and help with behaviour management while maintaining confidentiality and safeguarding.

Qualifications

• Hold a minimum of a Level 2 (or equivalent) qualification in a relevant area from a recognised accredited awarding body.
• Have a minimum of 6 weeks experience in a formal learning environment or through a placement as part of your level 2 qualification.
• Or have a minimum of 12 months’ experience of working in a formal learning environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist with Special Classroom Support to enable access to the curriculum and attend to personal needs.
• Develop understanding of pupils’ needs to be supported.
• Assist with Education Plan/Care Plan and participate in evaluation of the support.
