Job summary

JD Logistics in Milton Keynes is seeking a hands-on Shift Supervisor to lead the PM sortation team. You will manage manpower, monitor productivity, and ensure accurate scanning and sorting according to SOPs, coordinating with inbound/outbound teams to maintain smooth handovers.

The role requires strong leadership, excellent communication, and the ability to operate in a fast-paced, high-volume environment with flexibility for peak periods.

Qualifications

• Experience leading teams in warehouse, parcel sortation, logistics or similar environments.
• Strong leadership and people-management skills.
• Excellent communication and coordination across multiple teams.
• Ability to adapt quickly in high-volume PM operations.
• Familiarity with warehouse scanners and basic reporting tools.

Responsibilities

With a competitive salary, great locations, and a supportive, people-first culture, you’ll have the space to take on meaningful challenges, grow your skills, and make a real impact in a fast-evolving industry.About The TeamYou’ll be joining the JINGDONG Logistics team, which values collaboration, ownership, and a commitment to delivering high-quality results in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.Key ResponsibilitiesLead and coordinate the PM shift sortation team to achieve daily volume, productivity and quality targets.Allocate manpower across sortation lines and work areas based on parcel volume and operational priorities.Conduct shift briefings and communicate targets, workload, safety requirements and key operational updates.Monitor attendance, lateness and staffing levels, and escalate manpower shortages promptly.Monitor parcel flow throughout the shift and take immediate action to resolve backlogs, missorts and bottlenecks.Ensure sortation activities are completed before relevant outbound and line haul cut-off times.Monitor team and individual productivity and provide coaching or corrective guidance where required.Ensure parcels are scanned, handled and sorted accurately in accordance with SOPs.Coordinate closely with inbound, outbound, transportation and line haul teams to ensure smooth handovers.Manage agency workers and new starters during the shift, including task allocation, performance monitoring and basic training support.Ensure compliance with Health & Safety requirements, site rules and operational procedures.Escalate equipment faults, safety incidents, staffing issues and operational exceptions to the Sortation Supervisor/Manager.Maintain accurate shift records, including attendance, headcount, productivity, backlog and operational exceptions.Support continuous improvement initiatives to improve sortation efficiency, quality and overall shift performance.RequirementsPrevious experience in warehouse, parcel sortation, logistics or a similar operational environment.Previous Team Leader or supervisory experience is preferred.Strong leadership, communication and people-management skills.Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-volume PM operation.Strong awareness of productivity, quality, attendance and Health & Safety requirements.Ability to make quick operational decisions and manage changing priorities.Comfortable using warehouse systems, scanners and basic reporting tools.Flexibility to support peak periods, overtime and changing operational requirements where necessary.At JINGDONG Logistics, we’re committed to building a diverse and inclusive workplace where everyone can thrive.
