A brilliant specialist school in Gateshead is looking for calm, curious, people‑focused graduates to join their team as SEN Teaching Assistants. You’ll be supporting pupils with additional needs, helping them build confidence, routines, and the skills they need to succeed both in and out of the classroom.

It’s hands‑on, meaningful work, perfect for anyone considering a future in teaching, youth work, psychology, social care, or community support.

What you’ll be doing:
  • Supporting pupils with SEND needs across the school day
  • Building trusting relationships that help pupils feel safe and understood
  • Helping learners regulate emotions, communicate their needs, and engage with lessons
  • Working closely with teachers, therapists, and pastoral teams
  • Creating a calm, structured environment where small steps forward are celebrated
You’d be great at this if you:
  • Have a Sociology degree or a social sciences background
  • Enjoy understanding behaviour and what sits behind it
  • Stay calm under pressure and bring positivity to tricky moments
  • Connect well with young people and communicate with warmth
  • Are interested in trauma‑informed practice, child development, or behaviour support
Why join Protocol Education:
  • Weekly pay through PAYE, no umbrella deductions
  • Free CPD, including behaviour, SEND, and emotional regulation training
  • A dedicated consultant who supports your development and confidence
  • Long‑term roles that give you genuine experience, not just classroom cover
  • A chance to make a real impact in a school that values its support staff
