Cardiff Council seeks a registered Social Worker to join the busy Links CMHT in Adamsdown, Cardiff. This permanent, full-time role (37 hours) offers scope to work within a multi-disciplinary adult services team delivering care and treatment planning for adults with mental health conditions.

Ideal candidates will have a Social Work degree, registration with Social Care Wales, and experience in mental health settings.

Job description

We are seeking a registered Social Worker to join our multi-disciplinary Community Mental Health team in the Links Community Mental Health team, Adamsdown, Cardiff.

Working within Adult Services in a multi-disciplinary Community Mental Health Team offers practitioners diverse, fast paced and interesting work as you would expect in a capital city. The Links Centre is situated in the heart of a multi-cultural community and is a large, dynamic team dealing with individuals presenting with a wide range of mental health conditions, their carers and their families.

About the job

This is a permanent, full-time post of 37 hours per week.

You will need to have a Degree in Social Work or equivalent. A comprehensive understanding of the relevant legislation is essential along with experience of working with people with mental health difficulties. Previous experience of working within a mental health setting is also preferable and you should have experience of supervision of staff. Ideally you will be an Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP) for which an AMHP payment is applicable or be willing to undertake training for the AMHP role as part of your continuing professional development.

You will need to have experience at assessing needs under the Social Services and Well-Being Act 2014 and have experience of Care and Treatment planning in Mental Health Services. In addition, you will need to have experience in undertaking risk assessments and developing associated care plans and risk management plans. You should be prepared to undertake appropriate training and be able to work under pressure.

We are looking for someone who is committed to putting our citizens at the heart of the work we do and who wants to work in a fast paced dynamic and diverse area of work.

You will be a qualified and experienced Social Worker and be registered with Social Care Wales

You will have a sound knowledge of the legislative framework in operation.

You will be confident at assessing the needs of citizens and their carers and be familiar with the requirements of the Social Services and Well-being (Wales) Act 2014 and the Mental Health (Wales) Measure 2010.

You will be confident in undertaking risk assessments and development of associated care plans and risk management plans.

You will be able to practice from a strength-based perspective.

You will be committed to undertaking training to assist with your professional development and to the supervision process.

You will want to work in the capital city of Wales in services where we support each other and work together with other colleagues, professionals and organisations.

A full valid driving licence and the use of a car during working hours are required.

The ability to speak other languages, in particular Welsh, and Community Languages would be an advantage.

Additional information

With effect from the 1 st April 2021 this post attracts a market supplement of £3000 per annum full time equivalent. This payment is reviewed on a 12 monthly basis

An AMHP allowance of £2800 pro rata will be paid where applicable.

This post has a requirement for registration with Social Care Wales.
