Job summary

Cyngor Caerdydd/Cardiff Council is seeking a registered Social Worker to join our integrated Community Mental Health team in Pentwyn, Cardiff. The role focuses on individuals with mental health needs and their carers, within a supportive multidisciplinary setting.

The post requires a Social Work degree and knowledge of relevant Welsh legislation. Attending AMHP training may be part of ongoing development and an AMHP payment scheme is available where applicable.

Qualifications

• Degree in Social Work or equivalent.
• Understanding of Social Services and Well-being (Wales) Act 2014 and Mental Health (Wales) Measure 2010.
• Experience in mental health settings is preferable but not essential.

• Undertake risk assessments and contribute to care planning.
• Be prepared to undertake training and work under pressure.
• Must have full driving licence and use a car during hours.

Job description

With effect from the 1 st April 2021 this post attracts a market supplement of £3000 per annum full time equivalent. This payment is reviewed on a 12 monthly basis. A further Mental Health Professional allowance of £2800 will be paid in addition to the salary and market supplement, if applicable.

We are seeking a registered Social Worker to join our integrated multi-disciplinary Community Mental Health team in Pentwyn, Cardiff. The team is situated in Northeast Cardiff and is a small, supportive team dealing with individuals presenting with a wide range of mental health conditions, their carers and families.

About the job

You will need to have a Degree in Social Work or equivalent.

A comprehensive understanding of the relevant legislation is essential along with experience of working with people with mental health difficulties.

Previous experience of working within a mental health setting is preferable but not essential.

Ideally you will be an Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP) for which an AMHP payment is applicable or willing to undertake training for the AMHP role as part of your continuing professional development.

What We Are Looking For From You

• Confidently assess the needs of citizens and their carers and be familiar with the requirements of the Social Services and Well-being (Wales) Act 2014 and the Mental Health (Wales) Measure 2010.
• Be able to undertake risk assessments and develop associated care plans and risk management plans.
• Be prepared to undertake appropriate training and be able to work under pressure.
• Must possess a full valid driving licence and use a car during working hours.
• The ability to speak other languages, particularly Welsh and Community Languages, would be an advantage.
