An exciting opportunity has arisen to appoint two temporary Social Workers until October 2027 to join our well-established Community Mental Health Team (CMHT). We are seeking motivated and enthusiastic individuals who are passionate about making a positive difference to the lives of people experiencing mental health challenges.

These posts are to backfill maternity leave and for current social work staff undertaking their Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP) training. The role covers the Llanelli and Ammanford areas.

You will be a registered Social Worker (Degree in Social Work, DipSW or CQSW) and hold an enhanced DBS certificate registered with the Update Service. Ideally, you will have previous experience of working with people who experience mental health difficulties and complex needs.

We welcome applications from newly qualified Social Workers. As a newly qualified Social Worker, you will have the opportunity to gain experience in a mental health setting, supporting your professional development and helping you build a strong foundation for your social work career.

We would also welcome applications for secondment opportunities from colleagues within the Local Authority.

Holding the Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP) qualification would be advantageous. In return, the Council provides additional remuneration for undertaking AMHP duties.

The successful candidates will be responsible for managing a caseload of individuals with severe mental disorders, acting as a Care Coordinator under the Mental Health (Wales) Measure 2010, and undertaking assessments in accordance with the Social Services and Well-being (Wales) Act 2014.

You will possess strong assessment, care planning and review skills and be committed to the principles of co-production, ensuring that the individual's voice remains central to all aspects of assessment, planning and intervention. A person-centred approach and a genuine commitment to understanding what matters to the people you support are essential.
