Job summary

Cardiff Council is recruiting a Grade 7 Social Worker to join Mental Health Services for Older People, based at Llanfair unit, Llandough Hospital. The post offers a market supplement of £3,000 per annum (full-time) and a permanent contract for 37 hours/week.

You will collaborate with health colleagues and local authority teams, providing recovery‑focused care and advocating for safe, independent living in the community.

Job description

Our service offers secondary mental health care for adults living with dementia and people diagnosed with mental ill health over 65 years. We also work closely with the Young Onset Dementia Service and Local Authority community teams.

This role currently attracts a market supplement of £3,000 (full time equivalent), reviewed annually.

If you are looking to expand or develop your understanding of mental ill health whilst working collaboratively with health colleagues, look no further. We are seeking to recruit a Grade 7 Social Worker to join us in Mental Health Services for Older People.

Our philosophy is to foster a culture where employees are valued, supported and encouraged to reach their full potential. We are an integrated team, based in Llanfair unit, Llandough Hospital. We work collaboratively with multiple professionals from local authority and health. We provide staff with regular supervision and hold a weekly meeting to discuss complex cases in a multidisciplinary arena.

  • Confidence and a good knowledge of the Mental Capacity Act legal framework.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the wellbeing of citizens is an expectation of all who work in the service area.
  • A commitment to working closely with colleagues in a specialist social work team and to multi-professional working with colleagues in statutory and third sector services.

The ability to speak other languages, in particular Welsh, and Community Languages would be an advantage.

Additional information

With effect from the 1 st April 2021 this post attracts a market supplement of £3000 per annum full time equivalent. This payment is reviewed on a 12 monthly basis.

This post is permanent for 37 hours per week.
