Job summary

MCS Group is partnering with a leading multinational insurer to grow the SME Account Handling team in Belfast. This role focuses on servicing a portfolio of SME clients, renewing policies, handling mid-term changes, and driving new business inquiries within a collaborative, customer-first environment.

Ideal candidates will have insurance broking or account handling experience, strong communication skills, and a good grasp of SME commercial insurance products.

Qualifications

• Previous experience within insurance broking, account handling, or a customer-focused insurance role.
• Knowledge of commercial insurance products for SMEs.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• Excellent organisational skills to manage varied workload.
• Understanding of compliance and regulatory requirements in insurance.

Responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of SME clients with a focus on lower premium commercial insurance policies.
• Handle renewals, mid-term adjustments, and new business enquiries.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and insurers.
• Provide advice on suitable insurance products and policy coverage.
• Prepare and issue policy documentation in a timely manner.
• Ensure all customer interactions and processes comply with regulatory requirements.

The Role

The successful SME Account Handler will be responsible for:

• Managing a portfolio of SME clients with a focus on lower premium commercial insurance policies.
• Handling renewals, mid-term adjustments, and new business enquiries.
• Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients and insurers.
• Providing advice on suitable insurance products and policy coverage.
• Preparing and issuing policy documentation in a timely manner.
• Ensuring all customer interactions and processes comply with regulatory requirements.

The Person

The successful SME Account Handler will meet the following criteria:

• Previous experience within insurance broking, account handling, or a customer-focused insurance role.
• Knowledge of commercial insurance products, particularly within the SME market.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage a varied workload.
• Ability to provide a high level of service to clients and stakeholders.
• Comfortable handling renewals, policy amendments, and day-to-day account queries.
• Working towards or holding CII qualifications would be beneficial.
• Good understanding of compliance and regulatory requirements within the insurance sector.
• A proactive and team-oriented approach to work.
