Job summary

Cavendish Maine is seeking an SME Account Handler in the Swansea area to own and grow a portfolio of SME clients. You will handle day-to-day insurance needs, provide tailored advice, and negotiate with underwriters to secure the best terms.

The role requires experience in insurance, strong communication and a proactive approach to client management, with a view to long-term development within the firm.

Qualifications

• Experience in the insurance sector, preferably Commercial Lines and some knowledge of E-Trade policies.
• Proficiency with insurance platforms and client management systems.
• Awareness of FCA regulations and Consumer Duty requirements.

A highly regarded award-winning Commercial Insurance Broker are looking to appoint an Account Handler to take ownership of an existing book of SME clients, handling them and their insurance needs.

They seek a driven and motivated professional with previous insurance experience to support the needs of a diverse and interesting group of clients.

As an SME Account Handler, you will be responsible for managing and growing a portfolio of SME clients and providing support for specialist schemes business.

The Account Handler is the first point of contact for all external queries and issues and will require the skills and knowledge to meet client expectations.

About the Role:

• Manage a portfolio of SME clients, ensuring their insurance needs are met effectively and efficiently.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, understanding their unique insurance needs and providing them with personalised solutions.
• Provide technical insurance and risk management advice and guidance to customers.
• Negotiate with insurance underwriters to obtain the best terms and conditions for clients.
• Prepare and present insurance proposals to clients, explaining coverage options and pricing.
• Stay up to date with industry trends and changes in insurance regulations to provide clients with the most relevant and accurate information.

Key Skills/Experience Required:

• Proven experience within the insurance sector, ideally within Commercial Lines insurance, knowledge of E-Trade policies would be beneficial.
• Proficiency in using insurance platforms and client management systems.
• Understanding of compliance regulations, including FCA regulations and Consumer Duty.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to build trust and influence clients and stakeholders.
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and manage multiple tasks.
• A proactive, solution-oriented approach to client management and new business development.
• Cert CII qualification or willingness to work towards it, with business support.
