Job summary

South Lanarkshire Leisure and Culture is seeking two Lifeguards to join the team at Blantyre Leisure Centre on Glasgow Road, Blantyre. The role is 35 hours per week on a 3-week rota, with early morning and weekend shifts. You will supervise pool activities, ensure safety, maintain cleanliness and provide excellent customer service.

Applicants must hold a current NPLQ; First Aid certificate is desirable. A positive, proactive approach and strong teamwork are essential for this public sector

• A current First Aid Certificate is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Supervise swimming pool activities and ensure customer safety at all times.
• Respond to incidents and emergencies in line with procedures.
• Deliver customer service and assist centre users.
• Maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards throughout the facility.
• Support wider operational needs of the centre as required.

Week 1: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday 6am - 2pm

Week 2: Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday 2pm - 10.30pm, Saturday and Sunday 7.30am - 5pm

Week 3: Tuesday 10am - 2pm, Wednesday 6am - 2pm, Thursday 2pm - 10.30pm, Friday 2pm - 10pm

Salary: £25,767 - £26,041 per annum

Duration: Permanent

South Lanarkshire Leisure and Culture are looking for enthusiastic and motivated Lifeguards to join our team at Blantyre Leisure Centre. Reporting to the Duty Officer, you will play a key role in the safe and effective day-to-day operation of the centre. Responsibilities include pool supervision, ensuring the safety and wellbeing of customers, maintaining high standards of cleanliness, and supporting the smooth running of the facility.

What We're Looking For

• A current National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ) or equivalent is essential.
• A current First Aid Certificate is desirable.
• Previous experience in a lifeguarding, leisure, or customer service environment would be advantageous.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• A positive, proactive approach and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
