Job summary

South Lanarkshire Leisure and Culture seeks enthusiastic Lifeguards for Coalburn Leisure Centre. You will supervise pool activities, ensure customer safety, and support daily operations under the Duty Officer’s guidance.

The role requires a current NPLQ and may include evening shifts; First Aid is desirable. A proactive team player with strong communication will thrive here in a busy leisure environment.

Qualifications

• Must hold a National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ) or equivalent.
• First Aid Certificate is desirable.
• Experience in lifeguarding, leisure, or customer service is advantageous.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Positive proactive approach and team player.

Responsibilities

• Supervise swimming pool activities and ensure customer safety at all times.
• Respond to incidents and emergencies in line with procedures.
• Deliver excellent customer service and assist centre users.
• Maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards throughout the facility.
• Support wider operational needs of the centre as required.

Location: Coalburn Leisure Centre, School Road, Coalburn

Number of posts: 2

Hours: Post 1 - 6.25 hours per week (2 week rota)

Post 2 - 6.75 hours per week

Work Pattern: Post 1 - Week 1: Tuesday 5:30pm - 10pm

Week 2: Tuesday 5:30pm - 10pm, Friday 6:30pm-10pm

Post 2 - Monday 3:15pm - 10pm

Salary/Hourly Rate: £14.12 - £14.27 per hour

We are looking for enthusiastic and motivated Lifeguards to join our team at Coalburn Leisure Centre. Reporting to the Duty Officer, you will play a key role in the safe and effective day-to-day operation of the centre. Responsibilities include pool supervision, ensuring the safety and wellbeing of customers, maintaining high standards of cleanliness, and supporting the smooth running of the facility.

What You'll Do

• Respond appropriately to incidents and emergencies in line with operational procedures.
• Deliver excellent customer service and provide assistance to centre users.
• Maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards throughout the facility.
• Support the wider operational needs of the centre as required.

What We're Looking For

• A current National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ) or equivalent is essential.
• A current First Aid Certificate is desirable.
• Previous experience in a lifeguarding, leisure, or customer service environment would be advantageous.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• A positive, proactive approach and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
