Job summary

Northumberland County Council seeks personnel to lead or join a team performing highways repairs and maintenance across Tyne Mills Depot, Hexham, United Kingdom. Tasks include paving, concrete works, drainage, kerbs, and associated infrastructure under supervision.

Roles require prior highways/construction experience and a valid driving licence, plus a Level 2 or equivalent qualification. The council offers comprehensive leave, pension, and flexi-benefits where applicable.

Qualifications

• Valid Driving Licence is required.
• Previous experience in Highways and Construction.
• Ability to understand complex detailed spoken and written instructions, as well as plans drawings, schedules and calculate work requirements.

Responsibilities

• Lead or be part of a team carrying out highways repairs/maintenance tasks.
• Work on modular and block paving, insitu concrete and reinforcement.
• Deal with associated ironwork (manholes, gullies, valve cases).
• Lay kerb and channels.
• Install and repair drainage pipes and systems; operate mechanical jetting plant.
• Fit formwork and shoring-up equipment.
• Fit metal concrete bollards and excavation work.

Job description

You will lead or be part of a team and will carry out highways repairs/maintenance tasks including;

• Modular and block paving


• Laying insitu concrete and associated steel reinforcement

• Installing and repairing of all types of drainage pipes and systems and operate mechanical jetting plant


• Fitting formwork and shoring-up equipment


• Fitting metal concrete bollards and excavation work.

REQUIREMENTS OF THE JOB

• Valid Driving Licence


• Previous experience in Highways and Construction


• Level 2 or Equivalent Qualification


• The ability to understand complex detailed spoken and written instructions, as well as plans drawings schedules and calculate work requirements and keep accurate work records.


• Able to plan, organise and prioritise resources and staff, including own time.
