Job summary

City Site Solutions Ltd, in partnership with a key client, seeks an experienced Site Supervisor to join a prestigious refurbishment project in Oxfordshire. The role focuses on day-to-day delivery, safety, quality, and coordinating multiple trades on an architecturally sensitive building.

You will work closely with the Site Manager and Project Team on a live site, ensuring works are completed to programme and high standards while protecting historic fabric.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as Site Supervisor / Working Supervisor / Assistant Site Manager on complex refurbishment projects.
• Strong understanding of refurbishment and restoration projects.
• Experience in historic, listed or architecturally significant buildings.
• Excellent knowledge of construction processes, sequencing and building trades.
• Ability to coordinate and supervise multiple subcontractors.

Job description

I am currently working in partnership with a key client who are looking to appoint an experienced Site Supervisor to join their team on a prestigious and highly interesting refurbishment project in Oxfordshire.

The project involves the sustainable retrofit and refurbishment of 20 bedrooms and associated office space within a renowned 1970s building of significant architectural importance.

Due to the nature of the building, this is far more than a standard refurbishment. The project requires a careful balance between modernising the building, significantly improving its energy performance and comfort, and preserving the character and existing fabric of the building.

This is an excellent opportunity for a Site Supervisor with a strong refurbishment background who enjoys working on complex, technically challenging and architecturally sensitive projects.

The Project

The works will include:

• Replacement of the existing deteriorated roof membrane
• Installation of solar panels for renewable energy generation
• Enhanced insulation throughout the building
• Installation of fossil-free heating and hot water systems
• Replacement of existing single glazing with high-performance thermal glazing
• Upgrades to existing double-glazed units
• Improvements and upgrades to fire alarm and IT systems
• Installation of new en-suite facilities to bedrooms
• Internal redecoration throughout
• Full recarpeting and associated finishing works
• Coordination of multiple specialist trades and subcontractors
• Working carefully around and protecting existing building fabric

The Role

As Site Supervisor, you will play a key role in the successful day-to-day delivery of the refurbishment, working closely with the Site Manager, Project Manager, subcontractors and wider project team.

You will be responsible for helping to ensure that the works are delivered safely, efficiently and to the required quality standards, whilst maintaining a strong focus on the sensitive nature of the existing building.

The successful candidate will be comfortable working within a live and complex refurbishment environment, coordinating multiple trades and dealing with the challenges that come with working on an architecturally significant building.

The Ideal Candidate

The client is particularly keen to speak with candidates who have come from a strong trade background and have progressed into site supervision.

You should have:

• Proven experience working as a Site Supervisor / Working Supervisor / Assistant Site Manager on complex refurbishment projects
• A strong understanding of refurbishment and restoration projects
• Previous experience working within historic, listed or architecturally significant buildings
• Excellent knowledge of construction processes, sequencing and building trades
• The ability to coordinate and supervise multiple subcontractors
• Strong attention to detail and a high standard of workmanship
• Experience working around existing building fabric and managing sensitive refurbishment works
• Good communication and organisational skills
• A proactive approach to health & safety, quality and programme
• The ability to work effectively with the wider project team and specialist contractors

Essential Qualifications

• Valid SMSTS
• Valid CSCS Card
• Valid First Aid qualification
• Relevant construction/trade background
• Demonstrable refurbishment experience
