Job summary

Astute People's Power Team is recruiting a Site Supervisor to join the Mechanical Sub-Contractor on a new build Waste to Energy facility in the Midlands. Immediate start on an initial 3-month basis outside IR35, with strong potential to extend.

You will supervise mechanical installation activities, lead welders and pipefitters, oversee safety, quality and progress against the programme, and maintain site records to ensure project milestones are met.

Qualifications

• Experience supervising mechanical installation teams on heavy industrial projects such as power stations or waste facilities.
• Strong understanding of safety, quality and project standards on site.

Responsibilities

• Supervise daily site activities for steelwork and piping installation packages.
• Lead welders, pipefitters and mechanical operatives, allocate work and monitor productivity.
• Ensure installation works meet drawings, specs and standards.
• Coordinate with Project Director, client reps and other contractors to manage interfaces.
• Conduct toolbox talks, safety briefings and site inspections to promote HSE culture.
• Monitor schedule progress and implement corrective actions to keep on track.
• Assist with permit-to-work, RAMS, lifting ops and isolation procedures.
• Carry out quality inspections and manage punch lists through to handover.
• Maintain accurate site records and progress reports.

Astute's Power Team are currently recruiting for a Site Supervisor to join the Mechanical Sub-Contractor on a new build Waste to Energy facility based in the Midlands on an initial 3 months basis outside of IR35 (strong potential to be extended past the 3 months). The Site Supervisor position comes with a day rate from 350.00 to 400.00 outside of IR35. Role responsibilities and key skills for the role:

• Supervise and coordinate daily site activities across the steelwork and piping installation packages, ensuring works are delivered safely, efficiently and to programme.
• Lead and oversee teams of welders, pipefitters and mechanical operatives, allocating work, monitoring productivity and maintaining high quality standards.
• Ensure all mechanical installation activities are carried out in accordance with engineering drawings, project specifications and applicable industry standards.
• Coordinate closely with the Project Director, client representatives and other contractors to manage interfaces, resolve technical issues and maintain programme milestones.
• Conduct daily toolbox talks, safety briefings and site inspections, promoting a strong health, safety and quality culture across the workforce.
• Monitor progress against the construction schedule, identify potential delays and implement corrective actions to keep works on track.
• Support permit-to-work, RAMS, lifting operations and isolation procedures, ensuring full compliance with site and company HSE requirements.
• Carry out quality inspections, manage punch lists and oversee the completion of mechanical works through to testing, commissioning and final handover.
• Maintain accurate site records, including daily reports, labour returns, progress updates and material requirements.
• Previous experience supervising mechanical installation teams on conventional power stations, OCGT, CCGT, Energy from Waste or heavy industrial construction projects is highly desirable.

• Midlands.
• 350.00 to 400.00 per day (Outside IR35)
• Immediate start date
• 3 months (Potential for an extension)
