Job summary

Astute People is seeking a Piping Site Supervisor to join the Mechanical Sub-Contractor on a new build Waste to Energy facility in the Midlands. The role is an initial 3‑month contract outside IR35 with a day rate of 350–400. Immediate start and potential extension are possible.

You will supervise mechanical installation teams, coordinate interfaces with project stakeholders, and ensure works are delivered safely, to programme and to required quality standards.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Supervise daily site activities across steelwork and piping packages.
• Lead welders, pipefitters and mechanical operatives; allocate work and monitor productivity.
• Ensure mechanical installation aligns with drawings, specs and standards.
• Coordinate with Project Director, client reps and other contractors to manage interfaces.
• Conduct toolbox talks, safety briefings and site inspections and promote HSE culture.
• Monitor progress, identify delays and implement corrective actions to keep on schedule.
• Assist with permit-to-work, RAMS, lifting operations and isolation procedures.

Job description

Astute's Power Team are currently recruiting for a Piping Site Supervisor to join the Mechanical Sub-Contractor on a new build Waste to Energy facility based in the Midlands on an initial 3 months basis outside of IR35 (strong potential to be extended past the 3 months).

The Site Supervisor position comes with a day rate from 350.00 to 400.00 outside of IR35.

Role responsibilities and key skills for the role:

• Supervise and coordinate daily site activities across the steelwork and piping installation packages, ensuring works are delivered safely, efficiently and to programme.
• Lead and oversee teams of welders, pipefitters and mechanical operatives, allocating work, monitoring productivity and maintaining high quality standards.
• Ensure all mechanical installation activities are carried out in accordance with engineering drawings, project specifications and applicable industry standards.
• Coordinate closely with the Project Director, client representatives and other contractors to manage interfaces, resolve technical issues and maintain programme milestones.
• Conduct daily toolbox talks, safety briefings and site inspections, promoting a strong health, safety and quality culture across the workforce.
• Monitor progress against the construction schedule, identify potential delays and implement corrective actions to keep works on track.
• Support permit-to-work, RAMS, lifting operations and isolation procedures, ensuring full compliance with site and company HSE requirements.
• Carry out quality inspections, manage punch lists and oversee the completion of mechanical works through to testing, commissioning and final handover.
• Maintain accurate site records, including daily reports, labour returns, progress updates and material requirements.
• Previous experience supervising mechanical installation teams on conventional power stations, OCGT, CCGT, Energy from Waste or heavy industrial construction projects is highly desirable.

• 350.00 to 400.00 per day (Outside IR35)
• Immediate start date
