We are seeking an experienced Site Supervisor to lead and coordinate the safe, efficient and commercially effective delivery of operational activities across our Aberdeen locations, including Albert Quay, Mearns Quay and Torry Marine Base.
The role will provide visible day-to-day operational leadership, coordinating people, contractors, equipment and resources to ensure activities are delivered safely, efficiently and in line with company procedures, customer requirements and legislation.
A key focus will be maintaining high HSSEQ standards, promoting a positive safety culture and ensuring effective safe systems of work are implemented. The role will also support operational performance, customer satisfaction and continuous improvement across the Aberdeen operation.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide visible operational leadership across Aberdeen facilities and operational areas.
- Coordinate and supervise employees, contractors, third parties and visitors, ensuring compliance with site rules and safe systems of work.
- Oversee the efficient management and dispatch of offshore returned cargo in line with customer requirements and service levels.
- Plan and coordinate people, equipment and resources to meet operational, commercial and customer objectives.
- Ensure Permit to Work, lifting operations and associated activities are planned and executed safely and in accordance with legislation and company procedures.
- Maintain oversight of traffic management, lifting equipment compliance and contractor-operated equipment.
- Resolve cargo, customs and compliance issues to minimise operational disruption.
- Ensure operational data, records, documentation and performance information are accurately maintained.
- Support the Base Manager and provide operational leadership and cover when required.
HSSEQ & Safety Leadership
- Promote a strong HSSEQ culture through visible leadership, engagement and personal example.
- Ensure safe systems of work, risk assessments, procedures and operational controls are implemented, monitored and continuously improved.
- Lead and participate in toolbox talks, safety briefings, safety interventions and workforce engagement.
- Challenge unsafe acts, conditions and behaviours and ensure appropriate corrective action is taken.
- Support incident response, investigations, root cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Ensure employees have the appropriate training, competence, information and supervision to work safely.
- Maintain high standards of housekeeping, PPE compliance and workplace safety.
People & Stakeholder Management
- Lead, supervise and support operational teams to deliver high standards of safety, performance, productivity and customer service.
- Foster a culture of accountability, professionalism, teamwork and continuous improvement.
- Conduct performance reviews, Return to Work discussions and other people-management activities.
- Identify training and development needs and support employee growth.
- Address performance, conduct and attendance concerns fairly and consistently.
- Build strong working relationships with customers, contractors, colleagues and other stakeholders.
- Resolve operational and customer issues professionally and effectively.
- Support customer service excellence and the commercial success of the Aberdeen operation.
Compliance & Continuous Improvement
- Ensure compliance with applicable legislation, regulations, company procedures and customer requirements.
- Support audits, assurance and verification activities and ensure corrective actions are closed out.
- Monitor operational performance and identify opportunities to improve safety, efficiency, service delivery and cost effectiveness.
- Contribute to continuous improvement and Lean initiatives across the operation.
- Support emergency response and business continuity activities where required.
Essential Qualifications, Training & Experience
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- Appointed Person – BS 7121.
- Security Awareness Training.
- Knowledge of relevant health and safety legislation including HASAWA, COSHH, LOLER and PUWER.
- Training and experience in incident investigation and root cause analysis, e.g. TOP-SET.
- Demonstrable operational management/supervisory experience within logistics, ports, marine, offshore supply base and/or energy environments.
- Experience managing contractors and third-party service providers.
- Experience implementing safe systems of work, risk assessments and Permit to Work processes.
- Experience leading teams, managing performance and promoting a positive safety culture.
- Strong leadership, communication, planning, problem-solving and stakeholder management skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and operational management systems.
Desirable Qualifications & Experience
- NEBOSH General Certificate in Occupational Health & Safety.
- Supervisory or management qualification.
- Counter Terrorism Awareness.
- Oil Spill Awareness.
- Lean or Continuous Improvement training.
- Experience of quayside, cargo handling and lifting operations.
- Knowledge of offshore logistics, marine operations and supply base activities.
- Experience in customer relationship management within a service-led operational environment.
- Internal audit, compliance assurance or operational verification experience.
- Additional HSSEQ qualifications and CPD.
