Balfour Beatty plc is seeking a Site Based Substation Construction Manager for the Laleham Substation project in Surrey. You will deliver complex, safety‑driven construction works within the Power Transmission & Distribution team, coordinating site teams and maintaining rigorous quality controls.

The role requires extensive site management experience, strong contractor liaison, and a proven ability to deliver projects on time and within budget in a regulated environment.

Qualifications

• Proven track record delivering projects on time and within budget
• Experience with National Grid projects (desirable)
• Knowledge of standard forms of contract
• Experience implementing safe systems of work
• Strong commercial/project management communication

Responsibilities

• Support Project Managers in responsibility for profit and loss while ensuring safety, sustainability, environmental and quality standards
• Plan work and oversee materials, plant and equipment
• Oversee resource requirements and manage project staff
• Manage construction site daily operations: supervise labour, monitor subcontractors, check materials and quality
• Liaise with Highways Authorities, Local Authorities and other Utilities providers
• Ensure delivery on time and on budget by setting benchmarks and monitoring progress
• Check design documents
• Maintain a safe working environment meeting safety and environmental legislation
