Job summary

Balfour Beatty plc is seeking a Site Based Substation Construction Manager to lead Power Transmission and Distribution projects in the Middlesborough area. You will manage site teams, ensure safety, and deliver projects to plan.

You will support Project Managers, plan work, oversee materials and resources, and coordinate with highways authorities and utilities. Ideal candidates have a proven track record delivering projects and a degree in Electrical/Civil Engineering; APM qualification is

Qualifications

Proven track record of delivering projects.
Experience on National Grid projects.
Good understanding of standard forms of contracts.
Proficient in commercial/project management communications.
Experience implementing safe systems of work.
Experience improving safety systems in support of safety initiatives.
Effective verbal and written communication across all levels.
Strong team management and mentoring abilities.
Commercially astute with a UK driving licence.
Degree in Electrical or Civil Engineering; APM desirable.

Responsibilities

Support Project Managers in ensuring profitability, safety, sustainability, environmental and quality standards.
Promote collaboration with clients and stakeholders to meet requirements.
Plan work and oversee materials, plant and equipment needs.
Manage resources and staff for the project.
Run construction site activities, supervise labour and monitor quality control.
Ensure compliance with standards and liaise with Highways Authorities and utilities.
Deliver on time and on budget by tracking progress and budgets.
Review design documents and ensure alignment with project goals.
Maintain a safe working environment per legislation and customer standards.
