Job summary

Balfour Beatty plc is recruiting a Site Engineer for Maxim in the Power Transmission & Distribution sector in the UK. You will work with the Project Manager and project team to deliver projects on time and to budget, ensuring safety, quality, and compliance across all activities.

The role requires effective communication, strong teamwork, and the ability to manage risks and subcontractors while maintaining focus on cost and programme targets.

Responsibilities

• Attend periodic project reviews and meetings.
• Maintain accurate project records (progress, diaries).
• Prepare internal/external reports and liaise with stakeholders.
• Help provide information for informed, cost-effective decisions.
• Support scope and package assignment for coordinated delivery.
• Translate technical information and drawings into delivery.
• Ensure Zero Harm and stay updated with legislation changes.
• Safeguard safety and welfare of the public, staff and supply chain.
• Support safety/environment tours and safety initiatives.
• Monitor H&S management system and suggest improvements.
• Write and understand RAMS.
• Identify and report risks and hazards.
• Support incident and H&S responses.
• Manage safety documentation.
• Complete audits and set work to teams.
• Delegate and escalate unresolved issues.
• Manage subcontractors and monitor attendance/progress.
• Assist procurement planning to meet deadlines.
• Track KPIs and project objectives.
• Ensure assurance activities (audits) occur.
• Contribute to continuous improvement workshops.
• Monitor cost awareness and commercial impact.
• Escalate commercial changes.
• Request plant and materials.
