Job summary

Fawkes and Reece in the United Kingdom are recruiting an experienced Site Manager to lead day-to-day site operations on a long-term infrastructure project. Rail sector experience is not essential; candidates with a strong construction, civil engineering or infrastructure background who want to move into rail are welcome.

You will oversee safety, programme, budgeting and quality, manage labour and subcontractors, read drawings and coordinate with clients and designers.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as Site Manager, General Foreman or Site Supervisor within construction, civil engineering or infrastructure.
  • HNC or equivalent in construction is desirable.
  • CSCS Manager's Card is required or desirable.
  • Strong understanding of Health & Safety legislation and site management.
  • Experience coordinating subcontractors and multiple work activities.

  • Lead Health, Safety and Environmental activities and maintain compliance on site.
  • Prepare and manage site safety documentation and permits to work.
  • Deliver site safety briefings and maintain HSE records.
  • Manage labour, plant and materials for efficient project delivery.
  • Coordinate and supervise subcontractors to uphold safety and quality.
  • Maintain site diaries, progress reports, timesheets and plant records.
  • Monitor site competencies and documentation accordingly.
  • Liaise with clients, consultants and the commercial team.
  • Read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
  • Monitor programme progress and support project delivery.

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Site Manager to join our team on a long-term contract delivering infrastructure and construction projects.

Rail experience is not essential. We welcome applications from Site Managers with a strong background in construction, civil engineering or infrastructure who are looking to transition into the rail sector.

As Site Manager, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management of site operations, ensuring works are delivered safely, on programme, within budget and to the highest quality standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist the Project Manager with the day-to-day running of site operations.
  • Lead Health, Safety and Environmental activities, ensuring full compliance on site.
  • Prepare and manage site safety documentation, including WPPs, TBRAs and permits to work.
  • Deliver site safety briefings and maintain all HSE records.
  • Manage labour, plant and materials to ensure efficient project delivery.
  • Coordinate and supervise subcontractors, maintaining high standards of safety and quality.
  • Maintain accurate site diaries, progress reports, timesheets and plant records.
  • Monitor site competencies and maintain appropriate documentation.
  • Liaise with clients, consultants, designers and the commercial team.
  • Read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
  • Monitor programme progress and support successful project delivery.
Requirements
  • Proven experience as a Site Manager, General Foreman or Site Supervisor within construction, civil engineering or infrastructure.
  • CSCS Manager's Card.
  • HNC (or equivalent) in a construction-related discipline is desirable.
  • Strong understanding of Health & Safety legislation and site management.
  • Experience managing subcontractors and coordinating multiple work activities.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings.
  • Good IT skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • PTS certification is advantageous but can be supported where required.
