Job summary

Randstad CPE is recruiting a precision-driven Setting Out Engineer for a major rail infrastructure project in the UK. You will lead setting out duties, supervise on-site engineers, and prepare Safety Files for client handover.

You hold an Engineering degree, are progressing toward chartered status, and hold PTS with NEBOSH/IOSH/SMSTS training. Strong communication and MS Office skills are essential to engage with clients and stakeholders on site.

Qualifications

• Engineering degree or equivalent in Civil Engineering.
• Active progress toward Chartered/ Incorporated Engineer status.
• Experience in setting out and use of digital progressive assurance systems.
• Strong team player with good communication skills.
• PTS certification.
• Completed Health and Safety training (NEBOSH/IOSH/SMSTS).
• Proficient with MS Word, Excel & Outlook.

Responsibilities

• Undertake setting out duties with high precision and supervise others on site.
• Prepare Health and Safety Files for client review and handover.
• Develop and manage inspection and test plans across construction works.
• Conduct installation inspections and verify as-built drawings.
• Review handover documentation for accuracy against design specs.
• Communicate engineering tolerances to the team and maintain safety leadership on site.
• Build strong client and stakeholder relationships and report issues promptly.

Are you a precision-driven engineering professional looking to leave your mark on a high-profile rail infrastructure project?

We are currently partnering with a leading international infrastructure group who are leading the transformation of our industry to meet the challenges of the future.

Key Responsibilities:

Undertake setting out duties to a high degree of precision . Supervise other engineers setting out work . Prepare Health and Safety Files for presentation to the Client Engineers . Deliver these Health and Safety Files in line with the hand over programme . Produce and manage inspection and test plans across the construction works . Undertake Engineers installation inspections . Complete Red line drawings and ensure the accuracy of As Built issued drawings . Review hand over documentation for accuracy and conformance to the design specification . Have a clear understanding of engineering tolerances on the contract and communicate these to the team . Provide safety leadership on site, contributing to the wider programme safety targets and culture . Ensure all personnel under your control are fully briefed and work in a safe manner . Develop and maintain strong Client and Stakeholder relationships . Report any errors or omissions in a timely and diligent manner .

What We Are Looking For:

An Engineering Qualification (MEng, BEng, BSc) in Civil Engineering or a similar discipline . Actively working towards Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status with a recognised body . Proven experience of setting out and the use of digital progressive assurance systems . A strong team worker who can build relationships across the team . A strong communicator using both verbal and written methods . PTS certified . Completed a recognised training course in Health and Safety (NEBOSH, IOSH or SMSTS) . Computer literate and proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel & Outlook . Able to work under pressure and to tight deadlines .
