Job summary

Randstad Construction and Property is seeking a Senior Engineer to join a tier-two civil engineering contractor on a civils infrastructure project near Reading. You will lead site technical control, manage engineering teams, and drive delivery standards for a high-profile asset upgrade.

Job description

We are recruiting a Senior Engineer to join a tier-two civil engineering contractor on a civils infrastructure project based near Reading. This is a direct delivery role requiring an experienced engineer to lead site technical control, manage engineering teams, and drive delivery standards for a high-profile asset upgrade.

The Role

• Engineering Control & Quality: Overseeing high-accuracy setting out, managing the implementation of ITPs, review of test results, and ensuring robust as-built documentation and quality handovers.
• Technical Interface & Design Coordination: Reviewing complex construction drawings, managing CAD data, and driving the TQ/RFI process to resolve design conflicts before they impact delivery schedules.
• Work Package Management: Authoring, reviewing, and approving RAMS, Safe Systems of Work (SSoW), and temporary works controls prior to shift execution.
• Subcontractor & Resource Leadership: Managing sub-agents, site engineers, and specialist subcontractors, tracking daily productivity against the baseline program, and driving commercial accuracy on site.
• HSEQ & Site Governance: Enforcing a proactive safety culture, conducting routine site audits, and ensuring all works strictly adhere to environmental, safety, and client-specific standards.

Essential Requirements

• Direct Delivery Experience: A proven track record operating as a Senior Engineer or established Site Engineer ready to step up, working directly for a civil engineering contractor.
• Technical Qualification: A degree, HND, or HNC in Civil Engineering or a related construction management discipline.
• Certifications: Valid CSCS card, SMSTS certification, and Temporary Works Supervisor/Coordinator (TWS/TWC) qualification preferred.
• Technical Capability: Strong literacy in modern surveying equipment, 3D setting-out models, AutoCAD, and short-term program management tools.
