Job summary

VGC Group seeks an experienced Site Engineer to assist the Engineer in managing technical compliance with the design specification on a Plymouth site.

You will help set out works, update quality plans, conduct surveys, and support safety, environmental and QA inspections while coordinating with subcontractors to track progress against time, quality and quantity.

Qualifications

• Degree in civil engineering or equivalent is desirable.
• Chartered status or working towards IStructE/ICE is a plus.
• Experience with reinforced concrete structures and formwork is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Assist in preparing as-built drawings and updating the project quality plan.
• Assist in setting out and recording measurements with calibration of instruments.
• Assist with quality checks and surveys and RAMS documentation.
• Support site safety, environment and quality inspections.
• Help procurement of site materials and equipment and maintain drawing register.

Job description

My client is seeking an experienced Site Engineer to assist the Engineer in managing the technical compliance of the project to the design specification to fulfil the assigned

Key Tasks

• Assist in the preparation of as-built drawings.
• Assist in establishing effective systems to record work completed updating the Project Quality Plan accordingly.
• Participate in developing quality check sheets and carrying quality checks & surveys.
• Assisting with site safety, environmental & quality inspections
• To assist in managing systems to enable the progress of work to be reviewed against time, quality, dimensions, and quantity.
• Assist in the recording and testing of workmanship and materials, i.e., drainage, concrete, piling, brickwork etc.
• Responsible for setting out works constructed within allowable tolerances, from a provided site control.
• Regularly checking the setting out points and benchmarks and checking that all setting out instruments and measuring equipment are delivered to site with a calibration certificate and recorded accordingly.
• Completing Daily Diaries.
• Keeping trackers up to date
• Assist in procurement of site materials and equipment.
• Ensures workforce understand setting out information has been identified as suitable for the type of work being carried out.
• Assist in the preparation of sketches for distribution on site, ensuring clear communication channels are in place for effective understanding.
• Maintain drawing register.

Requirements

• Degree qualification in civil engineering or equivalent is desirable – one or more of:BSc, BA, BEng, Meng, Eng, Tech, MICE, TIStructE, LCIBSE, LCIBSEEng Tech, Completion of Higher Apprenticeship.
• May be working towards Chartership/Incorporation with IStructE, ICE or other appropriate professional body.
• Familiar in Leica Survey equipment (GPS, Total Station, Optical & digital levels) for Setting Out & Survey
• Experience in reinforced concrete structures using system formwork is essential.
• Awareness of commercial processes.
• Familiar with Quality Management System and familiar in writing RAMS.
• Supervisor HSE test, CSCS - White AQP card
