Job summary

Cavendish Professionals are recruiting a Site/Setting Out Engineer for a major civil engineering contractor based in Bridgwater. The role focuses on setting out, surveying, and maintaining project records on highways and infrastructure schemes.

You will interpret drawings, coordinate with designers and subcontractors, manage quality and ITPs, ensure site works meet standards, and support health, safety and environmental compliance.

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
• CSCS Card held.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Experience as Site Engineer on civil/ infrastructural projects.

Responsibilities

• Setting out and surveying works in accordance with drawings and specifications.
• Producing and maintaining accurate site records and as-built documentation.
• Ensuring works are delivered in compliance with design information and project requirements.
• Managing quality control processes and completing ITPs.
• Supporting subcontractors with technical queries and engineering requirements.
• Reviewing drawings and identifying potential design or construction issues.
• Monitoring progress and reporting updates to the project team.
• Assisting with temporary works coordination and implementation.
• Carrying out site inspections and ensuring works meet required standards.
• Supporting health, safety and environmental compliance across site operations.
• Managing permits, technical documentation and construction records.
• Liaising with designers, subcontractors, consultants and client representatives.

We are currently recruiting for a Site/Setting Out Engineer to join one of our well-established clients in Bridgwater. Our client is a leading UK civil engineering and construction contractor with a strong reputation for delivering complex infrastructure, highways, environmental, residential and commercial projects across the South East and wider UK.

Key Responsibilities

• Setting out and surveying works in accordance with drawings and specifications.


• Producing and maintaining accurate site records and as-built documentation.


• Ensuring works are delivered in compliance with design information and project requirements.


• Managing quality control processes and completing Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs).


• Supporting subcontractors with technical queries and engineering requirements.


• Reviewing drawings and identifying potential design or construction issues.


• Monitoring progress and reporting updates to the project team.


• Assisting with temporary works coordination and implementation.


• Carrying out site inspections and ensuring works meet required standards.

Skills & Requirements

• Proven experience as a Site Engineer within civil engineering, infrastructure or construction projects.


• Strong setting-out experience using GPS, Total Station and surveying equipment.


• Experience working on highways, utilities, energy, infrastructure or heavy civil engineering projects.


• Strong understanding of construction methodologies and engineering principles.


• Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.


• Excellent communication and organisational skills.


• Proficient in maintaining quality assurance and project documentation.


• Degree, HNC or HND in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.


• CSCS Card.


• Full UK Driving Licence.
