Job summary

Cavendish (Recruitment) Professionals Ltd is recruiting a Senior Engineer to join a leading UK construction and civil engineering contractor in Bridgwater. You will oversee engineering activities across multiple project phases and coordinate with design teams, subcontractors, and suppliers.

The role requires a Civil Engineering degree or equivalent, CSCS card, full UK driving licence, and proven leadership of site teams.

Qualifications

• Degree or HNC/HND in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
• Proven experience as a Senior Engineer or experienced Site Engineer within civil engineering, infrastructure, highways, or groundworks environments.
• Experience managing engineering teams on complex projects.
• Proficient with surveying and setting out equipment.
• Strong understanding of QA processes, ITPs, and site documentation.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• CSCS Card
• Full UK Driving Licence.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and manage engineering activities across multiple project phases.
• Ensure works are delivered in accordance with drawings, specifications, and programme requirements.
• Lead and mentor Site Engineers and Graduate Engineers.
• Manage setting out activities and quality assurance procedures.
• Review technical drawings and identify buildability challenges.
• Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, and design teams.
• Produce and maintain accurate site records, as-builts, and engineering documentation.
• Assist with planning and sequencing of works to maximise productivity.
• Monitor quality control and ensure compliance with project specifications.
• Support commercial teams with measurement, valuations, and change management.
• Drive a strong culture of health, safety, environmental, and quality compliance.
