Job summary

ECC Group is seeking an experienced Site Engineer / Setting Out Engineer to join our expanding UK team. You will work across multiple London and South East projects, delivering precise setting out, surveying, and on-site coordination to ensure quality and timely delivery.

You will operate Total Stations and GNSS equipment, interpreting drawings and design information while maintaining QA records and HSEQ compliance. A full UK driving licence and CSCS card are required.

Qualifications

• Experience as Site Engineer, Setting Out Engineer or Civil Engineer in the UK construction sector.
• Setting out on live construction sites across foundations, infrastructure, or major builds.
• Strong knowledge of total stations, GPS/GNSS and surveying equipment.
• Ability to interpret drawings, specs and coordinates; attention to tolerances.
• Full UK driving licence; CSCS card or eligibility to obtain one.

Responsibilities

• Undertake setting out, surveying and site engineering across multiple projects.
• Interpret drawings and design information for accurate on-site execution.
• Operate surveying equipment (Total Stations, GPS/GNSS, Leica/Trimble).
• Coordinate with Project Managers, Site Managers and Subcontractors.
• Maintain as-built drawings, survey records and QA documentation.
• Support delivery programs and ensure milestones are met.

SITE ENGINEER – SETTING OUT (MULTI-SITE PROJECTS)

We’re looking for experienced and motivated Site Engineers / Setting Out Engineers to join our expanding UK engineering team, supporting the delivery of major construction and civil engineering projects across London and the South East of England.

Key Responsibilities

• Undertake setting out, surveying and site engineering activities across multiple construction and civil engineering projects.
• Interpret construction drawings, specifications and design information to ensure accurate on-site execution.
• Operate and maintain surveying equipment, including Total Stations, GPS/GNSS and Leica/Trimble systems.
• Work closely with Project Managers, Site Managers, Foremen and Subcontractors to coordinate site activities.
• Carry out dimensional checks, level surveys, site measurements and verification of completed works.
• Maintain accurate as-built drawings, survey records, inspection reports and QA documentation.
• Identify and resolve technical issues, drawing discrepancies and potential construction challenges.
• Support project delivery programmes, ensuring engineering activities align with agreed milestones.
• Promote and maintain high standards of Health, Safety, Environment and Quality (HSEQ) in accordance with UK construction regulations and site procedures.
• Travel between project locations across London and the South East as required.

Skills & Experience Required

• Previous experience working as a Site Engineer, Setting Out Engineer or Civil Engineer within the UK construction or civil engineering sector.
• Demonstrable experience setting out on live construction sites, ideally across groundworks, reinforced concrete, infrastructure, commercial or major building projects.
• Strong practical knowledge of Total Stations, GPS/GNSS, Leica or Trimble surveying equipment.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings, engineering specifications, coordinates and construction tolerances.
• Working knowledge of AutoCAD and relevant surveying software.
• Good understanding of UK construction site practices, quality procedures and health and safety requirements.
• Excellent organisational skills, attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with site teams and subcontractors.
• Relevant qualification in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, Surveying or a related discipline (HNC, HND or Degree).
• Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel between sites.
• Valid CSCS card appropriate to the role, or eligibility to obtain one.
• Experience working across multiple construction sites or supporting several projects simultaneously.
• Background in groundworks, reinforced concrete frames, structural works, utilities or infrastructure.
• Familiarity with digital setting out, 3D models and BIM-related construction information.
• Experience working with Tier 1 contractors or major civil engineering subcontractors.
