Job summary

Cavendish Professionals is recruiting a Site Engineer for a well-established Hull-based contractor. The role focuses on setting out, surveying, and maintaining site records to support complex civil projects across highways and utilities.

The successful candidate will interpret drawings, manage ITPs and QA, coordinate with subcontractors, and ensure health and safety compliance on site. A Civil Engineering degree and CSCS are preferred, with a full UK driving licence.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Site Engineer in civil engineering, infrastructure or construction projects.
• Strong setting-out experience using GPS, Total Station and surveying equipment.
• Experience on highways, utilities or heavy civil projects.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills.

Responsibilities

• Setting out and surveying works per drawings and specs.
• Maintain accurate site records and as-built documentation.
• Ensure works meet design information and project requirements.
• Manage quality assurance and ITPs.
• Support subcontractors with technical queries and engineering requirements.
• Review drawings for design/construction issues.
• Monitor progress and report updates to the project team.
• Assist with temporary works coordination and implementation.
• Carry out site inspections and ensure standards are met.
• Support health, safety and environmental compliance on site.

We are currently recruiting for a Site Engineer to join one of our well-established clients in Hull.

Our client is a leading UK construction and civil engineering contractor with a proven track record of delivering complex, high-profile infrastructure, commercial, residential and transportation projects across the UK and Ireland.

Key Responsibilities:

• Setting out and surveying works in accordance with drawings and specifications.
• Producing and maintaining accurate site records and as-built documentation.
• Ensuring works are delivered in compliance with design information and project requirements.
• Managing quality control processes and completing Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs).
• Supporting subcontractors with technical queries and engineering requirements.
• Reviewing drawings and identifying potential design or construction issues.
• Monitoring progress and reporting updates to the project team.
• Assisting with temporary works coordination and implementation.
• Carrying out site inspections and ensuring works meet required standards.
• Supporting health, safety and environmental compliance across site operations.
• Managing permits, technical documentation and construction records.

Skills & Requirements:

• Proven experience as a Site Engineer within civil engineering, infrastructure or construction projects.

• Experience working on highways, utilities, energy, infrastructure or heavy civil engineering projects.
• Strong understanding of construction methodologies and engineering principles.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills.
• Proficient in maintaining quality assurance and project documentation.
• Degree, HNC or HND in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
• CSCS Card.
• Full UK Driving Licence.
