Job summary

Cavendish (Recruitment) Professionals Ltd is recruiting a Senior Engineer to join a leading UK construction contractor in Bridgwater. You will oversee engineering activities across multiple project phases and ensure delivery to drawings, specs and programme.

You will mentor Site Engineers and Graduate Engineers, manage setting out and QA procedures, review drawings for buildability, coordinate teams, and maintain site records.

Qualifications

• Degree or HNC/HND in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
• Experience as Senior Engineer or site engineer on civil/infrastructure projects.
• Proven leadership of engineering teams on complex schemes.
• Strong QA/ITP knowledge and site documentation.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and manage engineering activities across multiple project phases.
• Ensure works delivered in accordance with drawings, specs and programme.
• Lead and mentor Site Engineers and Graduate Engineers.
• Manage setting out activities and QA procedures.
• Review drawings and identify buildability challenges.
• Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers and design teams.
• Produce and maintain site records, as-builts and engineering docs.
• Assist planning and sequencing to maximise productivity.
• Monitor quality control and project compliance.
• Support commercial teams with measurements, valuations and changes.
• Drive health, safety, environmental and quality compliance.

We are currently recruiting for a Senior Engineer to join one of our well-established clients in Bridgwater. Our client is a leading UK construction and civil engineering contractor with a proven track record of delivering complex, high-profile infrastructure and commercial projects across the UK.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee and manage engineering activities across multiple project phases.
• Ensure works are delivered in accordance with drawings, specifications, and programme requirements.
• Lead and mentor Site Engineers and Graduate Engineers.
• Manage setting out activities and quality assurance procedures.
• Review technical drawings and identify buildability challenges.
• Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, and design teams.
• Produce and maintain accurate site records, as-builts, and engineering documentation.
• Assist with planning and sequencing of works to maximise productivity.
• Monitor quality control and ensure compliance with project specifications.
• Support commercial teams with measurement, valuations, and change management.
• Drive a strong culture of health, safety, environmental, and quality compliance.

Skills & Requirements:

• Degree or HNC/HND in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
• Proven experience as a Senior Engineer or experienced Site Engineer within civil engineering, infrastructure, highways, or groundworks environments
• Experience managing engineering teams on complex projects.
• Proficient with surveying and setting out equipment.
• Strong understanding of QA processes, ITPs, and site documentation.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• CSCS Card
• Full UK Driving Licence
