Job summary

The Site Chemist role in Somerset is a permanent, site-based position with a starting salary of £28,000 per year. It focuses on classifying, sampling and handling hazardous and non-hazardous waste, with full training provided by an experienced team.

Qualifications

• Degree in Chemistry, Environmental Science, Biology, Biochemistry, Ecology, Applied Science or equivalent.
• A-Level Chemistry or Applied Science qualifications also considered.
• Ability to work outdoors in an industrial environment with safety focus.

Site Chemist (Environmental Services)

Somerset| Starting Salary £28,000 p.a | Permanent

A growing environmental services business is seeking a Site Chemist to join its operational team.

This is a practical, hands‑on role involving the classification, sampling and handling of hazardous and non‑hazardous waste streams. The position is predominantly site-based and outdoors, offering excellent training and long‑term career prospects within a specialist industry.

This is an excellent opportunity for somebody looking to begin a career within the scientific and environmental sector. Whether you're a recent graduate, have scientific qualifications but haven't yet secured a role within the industry, or are looking for a new direction, full training will be provided by an experienced and supportive team.

Duties include:

• Inspecting and classifying incoming waste streams
• Sampling and basic testing activities
• Waste segregation and storage
• Completion of compliance documentation
• Supporting waste treatment and dispatch operations
• Maintaining health, safety and environmental standards

Requirements:

• Degree in Chemistry, Environmental Science, Biology, Biochemistry, Ecology, Applied Science or a similar scientific discipline
• A-Level Chemistry or Applied Science qualifications also considered
• Comfortable working in an outdoor industrial environment
• Strong attention to detail and safety awareness
• Full UK Driving Licence preferred
• Applicants must have full right to work in the UK. Sponsorship is not available.
