WasteRecruit Ltd is seeking a motivated Site Chemist to join a Derby-based facility. You will classify incoming waste, assess documentation and ensure proper acceptance in line with regulations.

Responsibilities include maintaining records, applying WM3 guidance, and liaising with customers and teams to support compliance, environmental performance and safety standards.

Qualificações

• Degree in Chemistry or related scientific discipline.
• Understanding of hazardous waste and waste classification is advantageous.
• Strong attention to detail and analytical/problem-solving skills.
• Good communication and organisational abilities.
• Proactive approach; able to work independently and in a team.
• Experience in waste management, recycling or laboratory environments preferred.

Our client is seeking a motivated and technically minded Site Chemist to join their team in Derby. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a chemistry background who is interested in waste classification, hazardous waste management and environmental compliance.

The Role

Working within a waste management facility, you will help ensure incoming waste is correctly assessed, classified and managed in line with environmental regulations and site procedures.

Key responsibilities include:

• Sampling, inspecting and classifying incoming waste streams.
• Assessing waste documentation and ensuring accurate waste acceptance.
• Applying WM3 guidance to support waste classification and hazardous waste assessments.

About You

• A degree or relevant qualification in Chemistry or a related scientific discipline.

• A proactive approach, with the confidence to work both independently and as part of an operational team.
• Experience in a waste management, recycling or laboratory environment would be beneficial, although candidates with a relevant scientific background looking to enter the sector may also be considered
