Job summary

Premier Work Support is recruiting a Site Chemist for a busy industrial site in Rochester. The role is hands-on, working with Site Management to ensure safe, compliant operations and accurate site records.

Hours are Monday to Friday 8am–5pm. You will inspect and test incoming waste/materials to determine disposal or recycling routes, ensure correct segregation, prepare outgoing loads, run laboratory tests, and operate a 3.5-tonne forklift.

Qualifications

• Minimum HND in Chemistry or related subject.
• Valid 3.5-tonne Counterbalance Forklift Licence is essential.
• Experience in a laboratory or industrial environment is advantageous.
• Good attention to detail and accurate material identification.
• Strong health, safety and environmental awareness.
• Good organisation and record-keeping skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Hands-on approach with full training provided where needed.

Responsibilities

• Ensure site activities comply with permits and procedures.
• Inspect and test incoming waste/materials for disposal or recycling routes.
• Ensure materials are correctly identified, segregated and stored.
• Prepare and inspect outgoing loads.
• Repackaging and bulking of materials as required.
• Raise and manage non-conformance reports within timescales.
• Record incoming paperwork and maintain site records.
• Support stock tracking and environmental reporting requirements.
• Carry out laboratory testing of samples.
• Operate a 3.5-tonne counterbalance forklift safely when required.
• Support safe and efficient day-to-day operations and cover Senior Site Chemist when needed.
• Collaborate with site team to maintain health, safety and environmental standards.

We are currently recruiting for a Site Chemist to join a busy industrial site based in Rochester.

This is a hands-on position where you will work closely with the Site Management team, supporting the safe and compliant operation of the site. The role will involve inspecting and testing incoming materials, identifying appropriate disposal and recycling routes, preparing outgoing loads and carrying out laboratory testing.

Salary: From £30,000 per annum, depending on experience

Job Type: Full-time, permanent

The Role

• Ensuring site activities remain compliant with relevant permits and procedures.
• Inspecting and testing incoming waste/materials to determine appropriate disposal or recycling routes.
• Ensuring materials are correctly identified, segregated and stored.
• Preparing and inspecting outgoing loads.
• Repackaging and bulking materials where required.
• Raising and managing non-conformance reports within agreed timescales.
• Recording incoming paperwork and maintaining accurate site records.
• Supporting stock tracking and environmental reporting requirements.
• Carrying out laboratory testing of samples.
• Operating a 3.5-tonne counterbalance forklift safely as required.
• Supporting the safe and efficient day-to-day operation of the site.
• Deputising for the Senior Site Chemist when required.
• Working with other members of the site team to ensure health, safety and environmental standards are maintained.

About You

• A minimum HND in Chemistry or a related subject.

• Previous experience in a laboratory, industrial, chemical, waste or manufacturing environment would be advantageous.
• Good attention to detail and the ability to accurately identify and assess materials.

• Good organisational and record-keeping skills.
• The ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
• A practical and hands-on approach to your work.Full training and support will be provided where required.
