Job overview

We have various Band 6 Sister posts within our Renal unit:

3 x Full-time (37.5 hrs) Permanent

1 x Full-time (37.5 hrs) Secondment - 12 months

You will be an experienced Band 5 or a sister at Band 6 level seeking a new opportunity to demonstrate leadership in nursing. Renal experience is not necessary as training will be provided.

You will primarily work in your assigned unit but may support other areas within the division and renal units across NORTH Bristol Trust to foster interdisciplinary collaboration, knowledge sharing, and networking.

Main duties of the job

  • Managing Datix and complaints
  • Electronic rostering
  • Daily ward management and team leadership
  • Supporting the Senior Sister
  • Participating in audits and weekly quality meetings
  • Having difficult conversations
  • Maintaining current NMC registration
  • Continuing professional development and participation in appraisals
  • Achieving a recognized teaching & assessing qualification
  • Completing training for additional clinical skills as required
  • Attending mandatory training
  • Using and developing skills in computers and electronic communication systems
  • Utilizing research to improve patient care
  • Renal and dialysis experience is desirable but not essential

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

We seek a highly skilled Band 5 or experienced Band 6 nurse capable of starting immediately. Knowledge of Band 6 management roles is advantageous.

Person specification

  • Experience at Band 5
  • Relevant qualifications
  • BSc Hons in Adult Nursing
  • Leadership experience
  • Renal or similar clinical experience
  • Experience working within the NHS and multidisciplinary teams

Applicants will typically start at the minimum of the pay scale unless prior NHS service at the same band exists; progression is via annual increments.
