D701: Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC) and Rapid Access Unit at the Bristol Haematology and Oncology Centre:
Our Same Day Emergency Care and Rapid Access Unit is a newly designed, dynamic service and we are looking to recruit a Staff Nurse for a 12 month secondment to join our friendly and supportive team. We have combined two streams for both haematology and oncology patients in one department. We are a dedicated team of compassionate, skilled professionals looking for a new member of our senior nursing team. You will bring clinical expertise and a real understanding of what good quality care looks like. You will be crucial to maintaining the high standards of care which we are proud of and inspire the nursing team to deliver the best care to our patients. There has never been a more exciting time to come and work on D701 with lots of exciting opportunities.
Our Trust has twice been rated Outstanding by the CQC, a testament to the commitment and hard work of our staff. The Centre has an excellent reputation nationally and internationally for research and innovation, and we are the regional specialist centre in the South west for Oncology and Haematology as well as palliative care.
The Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC) is covered 24/7 for our patients' however as a team we cover this service between 07.00am and 19.30pm 7 days a week. The Rapid Access service is currently covered between 08.00am - 18.00pm Monday – Friday.
-Assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care
-Communicate effectively and maintain confidentiality with patient carers and the multi-disciplinary team.
-Take responsibility for own professional development and clinical update
-Provide accurate timely contemporary records of care and treatment in line with UBHT record keeping policy and NMC
-Work within Trust Nursing policies and procedures and professional boundaries undertake all appropriate aspects of Nursing Care required including specific relevant clinical skills gained following appropriate training instruction
-Promote and maintain a safe environment for patients: Administer medicines in accordance with Trust policy. Promote a clean environment and the prevention of hospital acquired infections.
-Respond positively and act promptly to resolve problems/issues for patients/carers, utilising complaints procedures and PALs where appropriate.
-Assist with the smooth running of the clinical area by carrying out other duties such as stocking up, tidying and cleaning up equipment.
