Job summary

Amey Ltd in Treforest seeks a Permanent Control Systems Technician to support the AIW/IM team on‑site. You will perform maintenance, fault finding, and renewal tasks on signalling and Telecoms equipment, and you may act as Team Leader when required.

You will work on the Core Valley Lines project, a major Welsh transport initiative, ensuring safety, standards compliance, and timely delivery by a motivated team.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of signalling and telecoms faulting, maintenance and renewal techniques.
• Experience arranging and implementing safe systems of work.
• Ability to organise and control safe and efficient delivery of work.
• Familiar with SMS and SMTH standards.
• Holds or is working towards NVQ level 1 or 2, or equivalent knowledge.
• Willingness to drive vehicles as required.
• IRSE license desirable.
• Able to lead and motivate a team.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Carry out work safely and in accordance with SMS/SMTH standards or other relevant instructions.
• Undertake maintenance and renewal tasks of signalling and telecoms equipment.
• Attend faults and investigate and rectify as required.
• Control and check quality of work and confirm assets comply with standards.
• Ensure staff under your control have valid competencies.
• Check vehicles, plant, tools and equipment are fit for use and properly stored.
