Job summary

Amey is seeking a Permanent Control Systems Technician to join the AIW/IM team in Treforest. This on-site role (40 hours per week, averaged over six weeks) involves maintaining and renewing signalling and telecoms equipment and leading the team when required, helping to deliver the Core Valley Lines improvements in Wales.

You will work to SMS/SMTH standards, organise workloads, ensure competency and safety, and report on activities while advancing your career with Amey’s development programs.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of Signalling and Telecoms, faulting, maintenance and renewal techniques.
• Experience arranging and implementing safe systems of work.
• Ability to organise and control safe and efficient delivery of work.
• Familiar with SMS and SMTH standards.

Responsibilities

• Carry out work safely and in accordance with SMS/SMTH or other relevant instructions.
• Perform assigned maintenance and renewal tasks for signalling and telecoms equipment.
• Attend failures and investigate faults to rectify as required.
• Control and check the quality of work and ensure assets meet standards.
• Ensure staff under your control have the appropriate competencies.
• Ensure vehicles and equipment are fit for use and properly stored/disposed.
• Ensure test equipment is calibrated.
• Accurately report work completed and maintain records.
