Job summary

MAC Recruit Group Ltd is seeking a Shift Team Leader for a 24/7 operational facility in Central Scotland. This hands-on leadership role combines DCS/control room operation, plant monitoring and shift supervision to ensure safe, reliable performance within environmental requirements.

You will lead a shift operations team, coordinate start-ups and shutdowns, carry out inspections and monitor environmental permits, while maintaining accurate shift records and promoting high health and safety

Qualifications

• Experience in power generation or energy-from-waste environments.
• Experience operating mechanical/process plant.
• Previous team leadership experience or capability to step into a leadership position.
• HNC/NVQ or equivalent technical experience.
• IOSH, NEBOSH, BOAS or AP/SAP experience would be advantageous but isn’t essential.

Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor boilers, turbines, pumps and plant via DCS/SCADA.
• Lead, support and develop the shift operations team.
• Coordinate plant start-ups, shutdowns and operational issues.
• Carry out plant inspections and support minor reactive maintenance.
• Monitor environmental permits and compliance (CEMS).
• Maintain accurate operational and shift records.
• Uphold high Health & Safety standards across the facility.

An established operator within the power and renewable energy sector is looking for a Shift Team Leader to join a 24/7 operational facility in Central Scotland.

This is a hands-on leadership role combining DCS/control room operation, plant monitoring and shift team supervision, ensuring the facility operates safely, reliably and within environmental requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor boilers, turbines, pumps and associated plant via DCS/HMI/SCADA.
• Lead, support and develop the shift operations team.
• Coordinate plant start-ups, shutdowns and operational issues.
• Carry out plant inspections and support minor reactive maintenance.
• Monitor CEMS and ensure environmental permit compliance.
• Maintain accurate operational and shift records.
• Ensure high standards of Health & Safety across the facility.

About You

You’ll ideally have:

• Experience within power generation, Energy from Waste, biomass, CHP, steam-raising or a similar process environment.
• Experience operating mechanical/process plant.
• Previous team leadership experience or the capability to step into a leadership position.
• HNC/NVQ or equivalent technical experience.
• IOSH, NEBOSH, BOAS or AP/SAP experience would be advantageous but isn't essential.

You’ll work 4 on / 4 off across days and nights, with an 18-day break after every seven cycles.
