Job summary

RecruitMe is seeking a Deputy Shift Team Leader for a live Energy from Waste/power generation facility in Wolverhampton. You will support the Team Leader with operation of boilers, steam turbine and plant, stepping up to full responsibility for plant operations and shift staff when required.

The role requires experience with high-pressure boilers, steam turbines and DCS, a strong safety mindset and a track record of supervising operations teams.

Are you an experienced Power Generation Operator, Shift Operator, Control Room Operator or Deputy Shift Team Leader with experience of high-pressure boilers, steam turbines and DCS-controlled plant?

We are recruiting for a Deputy Shift Team Leader to support the safe, efficient operation of an Energy from Waste / power generation facility in Wolverhampton.

You will support the Team Leader with the operation of the boilers, steam turbine and wider plant, stepping up to take full responsibility for plant operations and shift staff when required.

The Role

• Monitor and operate plant via DCS
• Monitor boiler and turbine pressures, temperatures, flows, alarms and control systems
• Support safe and efficient steam generation
• Supervise and allocate work to operations staff
• Respond to plant faults, blockages and operational issues
• Maintain accurate shift logs and emissions records
• Support plant start-ups, shutdowns and emergency procedures
• Report plant defects and raise maintenance requirements
• Act as Safety Controller within the Permit to Work system
• Work across the plant including confined spaces and working at height

What We’re Looking For

• Experience operating or maintaining high-pressure boilers and steam turbine plant
• Experience supervising or leading an operations team
• DCS / control room experience
• Strong understanding of plant safety and operational procedures
• Experience within Energy from Waste, biomass, power generation, CHP, steam plant or heavy process industry
• FLT qualification advantageous
• Front Loading Shovel experience advantageous
• First Aid qualification desirable

Salary

£45,000 - £49,000
