Job summary

HVAC Recruitment Limited is seeking an experienced Shift Mechanical Engineer to join a large facilities team on a major healthcare estate in West Birmingham. The role covers planned and reactive maintenance across mechanical building services including ventilation, pumps, boilers and heating systems.

This permanent, 4 on/4 off shift position pays £32,000–£35,000 plus £3,000 shift allowance for a 40.25‑hour week.

Qualifications

• Recognised mechanical engineering apprenticeship.
• City & Guilds / NVQ Level 2 and Level 3 in a relevant mechanical discipline.
• At least 3 years’ post-apprenticeship maintenance experience.
• Experience with ventilation, pumps, boilers and heating systems.
• Previous PPM and reactive maintenance experience.
• Good fault-finding ability.
• Full UK Driving Licence.
• Able to pass a Standard DBS check.

Responsibilities

• Planned Preventative Maintenance across mechanical plant and systems.
• Reactive maintenance and breakdown response.
• Mechanical fault finding and diagnosis.
• Ventilation system maintenance.
• Pump and compressor maintenance.
• Boiler and heating system maintenance.
• Domestic hot and cold-water systems maintenance.
• Medical gas systems experience desirable.
• Responding to BMS alarms and out-of-hours issues.
• Minor installation and upgrade works.
• Carrying out repairs across mechanical building services.
• Completing maintenance records and job documentation.
