Job summary

HVAC Recruitment Limited is seeking an experienced Shift Mechanical Engineer to join a large facilities team on a major healthcare estate in West Birmingham. The role covers planned and reactive maintenance across mechanical building services including ventilation, pumps, boilers and heating systems.

This permanent, 4 on/4 off shift position pays £32,000–£35,000 plus £3,000 shift allowance for a 40.25‑hour week.

Qualifications

• Recognised mechanical engineering apprenticeship.
• City & Guilds / NVQ Level 2 and Level 3 in a relevant mechanical discipline.
• At least 3 years’ post-apprenticeship maintenance experience.
• Experience with ventilation, pumps, boilers and heating systems.
• Previous PPM and reactive maintenance experience.
• Good fault-finding ability.
• Full UK Driving Licence.
• Able to pass a Standard DBS check.

Shift Mechanical Engineer

We are recruiting for an experienced Shift Mechanical Engineer to join a large facilities maintenance team operating across a major healthcare estate in West Birmingham.

The role will involve planned and reactive maintenance across a wide range of mechanical building services including ventilation, pumps, compressors, boilers, medical gases, heating systems and domestic hot and cold-water systems.

This is a permanent shift-based role suited to an experienced Mechanical Maintenance Engineer with a strong building-services background.

Shift Pattern

• 2 days – 7am to 7pm
• 2 nights – 7pm to 7am
• 4 days off
• 40.25 hours per week

Duties & Responsibilities

Candidate Requirements

• Recognised mechanical engineering apprenticeship
• City & Guilds / NVQ Level 2 and Level 3 in a relevant mechanical discipline

• Previous FM, estates or commercial maintenance experience

Previous healthcare experience would be advantageous but is not essential.

Experience with medical gases, pressure systems, ventilation systems or previous Competent Person / Authorised Person duties would also be beneficial.

This role would suit candidates currently working as a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer, Shift Mechanical Engineer, Mechanical Craftsperson, Mechanical Technician or Building Services Engineer
