Job summary

Pioneer Selection Ltd is seeking a Shift Maintenance Engineer for a leading FMCG manufacturer near Wrexham. The role involves hands-on maintenance on a busy production site to keep equipment safe, reliable and available for production.

You will perform planned preventive maintenance and reactive breakdown support, using electrical and mechanical fault-finding skills to diagnose issues and minimise downtime. Involvement in root cause analysis and continuous improvement projects is expected.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 Engineering qualification (or equivalent).
• Multi-Skilled Maintenance experience.
• Previous manufacturing maintenance experience.
• Strong electrical and mechanical fault-finding ability.

Responsibilities

• Carry out Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM).
• Perform reactive breakdown maintenance.
• Read electrical and mechanical drawings and use fault-finding skills.
• Contribute to root cause analysis and equipment improvements.
• Support engineering projects aimed at improving site reliability.

Salary: Up to £49

Shift: 4 on 4 off (2 Days / 2 Nights) 7:00am - 7:00pm / 7:00pm - 7:00am

Job Role of the Shift Maintenance Engineer

A leading FMCG manufacturer in the Wrexham area is looking to strengthen its engineering team with an experienced Shift Maintenance Engineer. This is a hands-on, multi-skilled role working across a busy production site, maintaining a varied range of automated machinery and ensuring equipment remains safe, reliable and available for production.

You’ll carry out a combination of planned preventative maintenance and reactive breakdown support, using your electrical and mechanical fault-finding skills to diagnose issues and minimise downtime. Alongside day-to-day maintenance, you’ll have the opportunity to get involved in root cause analysis, equipment improvements and wider engineering projects aimed at improving reliability and site performance.

Non-Negotiable Requirements of the Shift Maintenance Engineer

• NVQ Level 3 Engineering qualification (or equivalent).
• Multi-Skilled Maintenance experience.
• Previous manufacturing maintenance experience.
• Strong electrical and mechanical fault-finding ability.

Requirements for the Shift Maintenance Engineer

• Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM).

• Basic PLC I/O understanding.
• Motors, drives, gearboxes and transmission systems.

Desirable Requirements for the Shift Maintenance Engineer

• Food or FMCG manufacturing experience.
• 18th Edition Wiring Regulations.
• SCADA or machine control systems.
• Variable Speed Drives (VSDs).
• Fabrication or welding experience.
• MEWP licence.
• Health & Safety qualification.
