Job summary

Proman UK in Reading is seeking a Shift Engineer with hands-on maintenance experience to join a busy manufacturing site. You will work as part of the Engineering team to keep equipment available, support preventive maintenance and diagnose faults on production lines.

Ideal candidates have 1+ year in engineering, basic mechanical/electrical understanding and a proactive, safe-working approach. The role offers a 4 on/4 off shift pattern and clear progression opportunities.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year's experience in an engineering, maintenance, production or manufacturing role.
• Basic mechanical and/or electrical understanding.
• A genuinely hands-on approach.
• Strong work ethic and positive attitude.
• Willingness to learn new equipment, systems and processes.
• Commitment to working safely.
• Ability to work as part of a shift team.
• Reliable and professional approach to work.

Responsibilities

• Working within the site Engineering team to maximise equipment availability.
• Supporting planned preventative maintenance activities.
• Assisting with breakdown response and fault diagnosis.
• Maintaining plant and production equipment.
• Identifying opportunities for continuous improvement.
• Ensuring all work is completed safely and to a high standard.
• Developing site-specific engineering competencies through ongoing training.
• Building technical knowledge with the support of experienced colleagues.
