Job summary

James Cropper seeks a maintenance engineer to perform planned, preventative and breakdown maintenance across the mill. The role operates on a 12‑hour shift cycle (6am–6pm and 6pm–6am) aligned with production needs and requires hands-on fault diagnosis, rapid problem solving and safe hand‑over of work.

You will work within a global materials and paper products environment, ensuring safety, productivity and quality while supporting facilities for critical activities.

Qualifications

• HNC in a relevant engineering discipline or equivalent.
• Relevant professional experience in manufacturing.
• Broad knowledge of plant, equipment and systems mill-wide, and ability to work to technical specs.
• Awareness of engineering and health and safety legislation and requirements.
• Excellent communication skills to develop stakeholder relationships at various levels.
• Ability to interpret processes, procedures, manuals and drawings.

Responsibilities

• Provide fault diagnosis, solutions and repair in machinery and plant areas; ensure run‑ability and safety.
• Complete work issued by the PPM system or team leader and prioritise unplanned work.
• Comprehensively record all necessary information.
• Use spare parts cost‑effectively and manage stores inventory.
• Be a member of fire and lone worker emergency response teams as required.
• Implement improvements to safety, housekeeping, productivity and quality.
• Ensure safe hand‑over of maintenance work carried out.
• Support Facilities and other business functions for critical activities.
