Job summary

James Cropper is seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician to join our mill operations on a 12-hour shift pattern (6am-6pm / 6pm-6am). You will perform planned preventative maintenance, respond to breakdowns, and support production with timely repairs to minimise losses.

Working within a safety‑minded, multi‑disciplinary team, you will record activities, order parts, and ensure handovers are clear. An engineering qualification and manufacturing experience are essential to thrive here.

Qualifications

• HNC in a relevant engineering discipline or equivalent.
• Relevant professional experience in manufacturing.
• Broad knowledge of plant, equipment and systems mill-wide.
• Awareness of engineering and health & safety legislation.
• Excellent communication to develop stakeholder relationships.
• Ability to interpret processes, procedures, manuals and drawings.

Responsibilities

• Fault diagnosis, solutions and repair in areas of machinery and plant.
• Complete work as issued by the PPM system and prioritise unplanned work.
• Comprehensive recording of all necessary information.
• Use spare parts cost‑effectively and track stores.
• Be part of fire and lone worker emergency response teams as required.
• Implement improvements to safety, housekeeping, productivity and quality.
• Ensure safe hand‑over of maintenance work and support Facilities for critical activities.
