Job summary

Hyatt Regency Birmingham is seeking a Shift Engineer to keep the hotel in good working order and provide a safe, comfortable environment for guests and colleagues. You will carry out PPM, respond to maintenance issues, and undertake general repairs, painting, decorating and upkeep of facilities and guest rooms.

This full-time, permanent role offers 37.5 hours per week on a rotating shift, with weekends and variable patterns.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a similar maintenance role.
  • Ability to work on your own initiative with minimal supervision.
  • Flexibility to cover weekends on rotating shifts.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out general maintenance and repairs throughout the hotel.
  • Perform planned preventative maintenance in guest rooms and public areas.
  • Undertake painting and decorating to maintain a high standard of appearance.
  • Repair and maintain furniture, fixtures, fittings, and equipment.
  • Respond quickly to maintenance issues and staff requests.
  • Maintain safety records and ensure compliance with health and safety requirements.
  • Keep maintenance logs up to date.
  • Coordinate with contractors when required.
  • Support hotel team with maintenance tasks.

Job description

As a Shift Engineer , you will be responsible for keeping the hotel in good working order and ensuring a safe and comfortable environment for guests and colleagues. You will carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM), respond to maintenance issues, and complete general repairs, painting, decorating, and upkeep of hotel facilities, equipment, and guest rooms.,

  • Carry out general maintenance and repair work throughout the hotel.
  • Complete planned preventative maintenance (PPM) tasks in guest rooms and public areas.
  • Undertake painting and decorating to maintain a high standard of appearance.
  • Repair and maintain furniture, fixtures, fittings, and equipment.
  • Respond quickly to maintenance issues and staff requests.
  • Conduct regular inspections and report any faults or safety concerns.
  • Ensure all work is completed safely and in line with health and safety requirements.
  • Keep maintenance records up to date.
  • Work with contractors when required.
  • Help maintain a safe, clean, and comfortable environment for guests and colleagues.
  • Support the wider hotel team with maintenance-related tasks as needed.
    Previous experience in a similar role, you'll have relevant qualifications in general maintenance work incorporating a variety of painting, plumbing, electrical or joinery work. You will be able to demonstrate the ability to work on your own initiative without close supervision and be able to prioritize your workload. You'll have a can-do attitude, be adaptable and be able to respond flexibly to different requests and situations.
