Job summary

Hyatt Regency London – The Churchill is seeking a proactive Shift Engineer to maintain hotel plant, M&E systems, and guest facilities, ensuring safety and minimal disruption.

You will perform routine inspections, respond to requests, and work with other departments to deliver a seamless guest experience in the Marylebone district.

Qualifications

• Previous engineering, maintenance, or building services experience, ideally in hospitality.
• Strong understanding of health and safety practices.

Responsibilities

• Carry out routine maintenance, inspections, and repairs to hotel plant, equipment, and building systems.
• Respond promptly to maintenance requests and guest-related engineering issues.
• Monitor and maintain safe, efficient operation of electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and HVAC systems.
• Identify and resolve faults; ensure compliance with health and safety standards.
• Support emergency procedures including fire alarm responses and lift entrapment situations.
• Complete planned preventative maintenance to reduce downtime.
• Collaborate with hotel departments to ensure seamless guest experiences.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and report major issues.

Duties and responsibilities related to the Shift Engineer role

• Carry out routine maintenance, inspections, and repairs to hotel plant, equipment, and building systems.


• Respond promptly to maintenance requests and guest-related engineering issues, ensuring minimal disruption to operations.


• Monitor and maintain the safe and efficient operation of electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and HVAC systems.


• Assist in identifying and resolving faults, ensuring all equipment remains compliant with health and safety standards.


• Support emergency procedures, including fire alarm responses and lift entrapment situations in line with hotel procedures.


• Complete planned preventative maintenance tasks to help maintain the hotel's high standards and reduce equipment downtime.


• Work closely with other hotel departments to ensure a seamless guest experience and support operational needs.


• Maintain accurate maintenance records and report any significant issues or repair requirements to the Engineering management team.

About you

We are looking for a proactive and reliable individual with previous engineering, maintenance, or building services experience, ideally gained within a hotel, hospitality, or similar customer-focused environment. You will have a strong understanding of health and safety practices, excellent problem‑solving skills, and the ability to respond calmly and efficiently in a fast‑paced setting. A hands‑on approach, attention to detail, and a commitment to delivering exceptional guest experiences are essential. Relevant engineering qualifications or certifications would be advantageous.
